About Dr Janie Collins
Dr Janie Collins is Brisbane-born and a graduate of the University of Queensland Medical School. After completing her residency at the Royal Brisbane and Prince Charles Hospitals, she served as a military medical officer with postings across Australia and to the Middle East.
She has subsequently completed specialist General Practitioner training, gaining her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and has additionally completed qualifications in nutritional medicine and child health. Most recently, reflecting a lifelong love of learning, Janie completed a Masters in Counselling, recognising the strong correlation between physical and mental health.
Janie’s special consulting interests include all aspects of women’s health, antenatal and postnatal care (being aligned with the Mater Mothers Hospital to provide shared antenatal care), all aspects of paediatrics and child health (including complex paediatric developmental concerns), general family medicine, and mental health.
With respect to the latter, she has a strong affinity for counselling with respect to personal and family relationships, and remains committed to providing ongoing support to military veterans, for both their physical and mental health.
Janie is a proud mum to her young adult daughter, and in her spare time, loves to prepare beautiful food and work on her creative projects, particularly reading and writing. She remains physically active and enjoys long walks, and is socially
connected through the many events she curates for family and friends.
